Abstract: A robust enriched finite element method is proposed for the numerical solution of heat conduction in composite materials. The governing equations consist of a nonlinear transient diffusion problem with discontinuous coefficients. These coefficients depend on the conduction properties of each material in the composite enclosures. The finite element space is enriched using a class of exponential functions accounting for the heat decay in the composite material.
