Global stability analysis and clinical implications of a modified HIV model with CTL response

Abstract: A modified mathematical model of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) pathogenesis with cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) is introduced in this paper. This model includes a saturated rate function describing the viral infection. It is shown that the disease free steady state is locally asymptotically stable when the virus basic reproduction number is less than one. The existence of two other infection equilibria is established when the virus basic reproduction number is greater than one.
